Providence, RI- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team closed their 2024-25 regular season with a 4-0 loss to the Providence College Friars
on Saturday afternoon.
Merrimack (8-22-4, 5-18-4): 0, Providence (20-11-3, 16-9-2): 4
Providence scored quickly as they took the lead with a powerplay goal inside five minutes into the game, and they would add a second goal three minutes later to carry a two goal lead into the room.
In the second, the Friars would add their third goal of the afternoon and their second powerplay strike just past the midway point of the game for the only goal in the period.
Merrimack was awarded a late powerplay with the net empty, but were unable to snag a consolation tally, as the Friars scored their fourth of the day into the open cage, shorthanded to end the proceedings.
UP NEXT: The Warriors head to the Hockey East Tournament Opening Round, as they visit the Whittemore Center on Wednesday, to play the #7 seeded New Hampshire Wildcats.
