How it Happened
  • In game one of the series, Merrimack rolled out Andrew Heffernan on the mound. He was solid for the Warriors pitching 5.1 innings giving up just three earned. However, Merrimack's two early runs, coming from Brooks Craigue and Chris Goode RBI's, would be all that came across home plate until the seventh inning. That was too late with Wagner closing out a 6-4 win to open the series.
  • The second game was also played on Saturday as a part of a doubleheader. James Nichols started on the bump for Merrimack. He was fantastic giving up just four hits and three runs. He was pulled after five innings as it was tied up 3-3. The Warriors then rattled off five runs in the seventh inning to make it 8-3 and let Cole Yennaco close it out from there to snag the win.
  • The rubber match occurred on Sunday with the winner of game three taking the series. Harry Painter was the starting pitcher for Brian Murphy's squad. Painter pitched four innings, striking out three and giving up just one earned. Nick Hunkele, Jack Andrews and Luke Linnehan pitched through the next four innings giving up just one run as well. The Warriors held a 4-2 lead going into the ninth and a Logan Castellano homer provided some insurance with the lead now at 5-2 in favor of the blue and gold. Dawson Logie entered in the ninth and was tasked with closing it out for Merrimack. Logie gave up four runs including the walk off single as the Warriors fell in game three to Wagner, 6-5.
