Rapid Recap
In the first quarter of this matchup it was a full out back and forth affair. Merrimack took the first lead but it was then Rider controlling it until the later stages of the period. The Warriors tied it up at 17 after a 7-0 run to finish the first. In the second, Merrimack continued the run they had ended the first on, scoring the first six points to make it a 13-0 run and a 23-17 lead. The Broncs inched their way back into it with the score being 29-27 in favor of Rider at the half.

To begin the second half, Thalia Shepard and Paloma Garcia got it going. Just as the Warriors seemed to be clicking, the Broncs clawed back in as the war inside the paint persisted between these two teams. A late Dejah Jenkins three pointer solidified the lead for Merrimack through three quarters, 48-45. The fourth quarter was riddled with foul trouble as Madison Roman and Thalia Shepard picked up their fourth personal's early on in the frame. During the time they were on the bench, Lydia Melaschenko asserted herself offensively getting to the rim at will and drawing multiple Broncs fouls. However, Rider was able to score on the offensive end and capitalize with Roman and Shepard sidelined. Rider held a lead late and Merrimack had a few chances to tie the game up but a pair of miscues halted those opportunities. Still, the Warriors got one final moment to try to tie it at the buzzer but the Melaschenko three did not fall.
