NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a much-needed victory to secure the season sweep of Marist.

The first quarter was filled with defense as neither team seemed to be able to get the lid off the basket. Merrimack scored just seven points in the frame but held Marist to four points and zero made field goals. The offenses started to click a little through the next ten with the Red Foxes going in front into the halftime break, 23-18.
The Warriors and specifically,
Paloma Garcia, came out with a spark. The first two Red Fox possessions resulted in steals and scores from Garcia and Shepard to make it a one-point game. Merrimack went on to score 21 points in the quarter to build a two-point advantage heading into the fourth. In the final ten minutes, the Warriors controlled the boards along with continuing to force Marist turnovers. Some major shots down the stretch from
Mia Fiore and
Thalia Shepard ultimately brought the Warriors to the victory. The blue and gold forced a total of 20 Red Fox turnovers on their way to the 55-48 win, potentially securing a first-round bye in the MAAC postseason tournament.

The Warriors head to Atlantic City, New Jersey to compete in the MAAC Championship starting on March 11
