NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Merrimack softball team won game 1 and lost game 2 in a doubleheader against the Holy Cross Crusaders at The Warrior Softball Diamond at Martone-Mejail Field on April 2nd.

Game 1 Recap
Anna Gedacht was the starting pitcher in the circle, and she began the game with a quick 1-2-3 inning. Madeline Arvai came up in the bottom of the 1st and hit a towering home run to left field to make it 2-0 Warriors. Anna Gedacht got right back in the circle in the 2nd inning and had another efficient 1-2-3 outing. The Warriors scored again in the third inning as Thiana Brito got on base with a double and Madeline Arvai kept rolling with a 2 RBI double. Gabby Kaduson had an RBI of her own in the 5th inning, sending Eva Issitt home to make it 5-0 Merrimack. Emma Prahin took advantage of a bases- loaded situation and drove in a run to make it 6-0 in favor of the blue and gold. Anna Gedacht would go the distance and have two more efficient outings in the 6th and 7th innings. The Warriors went on to win the first game by a score of 6-1.
Game 2 Recap
Merrimack pitcher Sarah Shurtleff got in the circle in the top of the 1st and pitched a 1-2-3 inning. One of those outs involved Kiele Coleman tracking down a fly ball and getting an out right on the left field warning track. Ellen Hubbard got the offense going with an infield single. Then, Thiana Brito stole second to move into scoring position. Sarah Shurtleff had the bases loaded in the 2nd, but she got out of it. Eva Issitt made a nice catch at the warning track in center field to get out of the jam. Gabby Kaduson began the bottom of the 4th with a line drive single in the left field gap. Madison Metcalf drove her in with a triple to the right field gap, tying the game at 1-1. Then, Sofia Palyan started the bottom of the 5th with a torpedo to left field that hit the bottom of the wall. Ellen Hubbard followed that by moving over pinch runner Madi Gibeault to third with a fly out to deep right field. Thiana Brito stepped up and hit an RBI single to center field to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead. Gabby Kaduson kept the entourage going with a hit of her own. The Crusaders surged ahead 5-2, but the Warriors did not go down without a fight. Eva Issitt reached with an infield single and Ellen Hubbard plated her with an RBI double. Gabby Kaduson then stepped up and hit an RBI single. Although the Warriors made a great comeback, the Holy Cross Crusaders went on to win 5-4.

The Warriors have the weekend off, but return home for more MAAC softball action on Tuesday, April 8th.
