Rapid Recap
The Warriors came ready to go right from the jump in this one. They aimed to grab their first conference win of the year and early on they looked poised to do so. The teams traded scores in the opening minutes before an onslaught of Merrimack goals. Eight straight tallies to finish the first frame is what came next for the Warriors as the offense could simply not be stopped. Seven different Warriors netted one in the first quarter as they took a commanding 9-1 lead going into the next fifteen minutes. The punishment did not stop there as Colin Kruger and Brian Bouwman scored back to back goals to begin the second quarter before the Gaels finally ended the 10-0 run. Merrimack proceeded to step back on the gas scoring four of the final five goals to end the first half taking a commanding 15-3 lead at the break.

The scoring settled down in a drastic way for the Warriors as they did not net one until about halfway through the period with Brian Bouwman scoring another. A Conor Noone goal followed by a pair of Josh Younger scores gave Merrimack the largest lead of the game at 19-3 to close out the third quarter. The defense for the Warriors was stifling throughout the entirety of the game but they allowed no Iona goals in the second half until the 4:57 mark of the final quarter of play. The Warriors ended up with a dominant 19-6 road win over the Gaels to secure their first conference win as a member of the MAAC.
