Women's Soccer Battles With Maine

North Andover, Ma.-   The Merrimack College Warriors women's soccer team battled back from a two goal first half deficit, but conceded early in the second half, to fall to the Maine Black Bears by score of 3-2 on Thursday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.

Maine grabbed the opening goal in the first 18 minutes, and they would double their lead just over one minute later as the Black Bears shot deflected off a Merrimack player to double their advantage. Warriors got a goal back 15 minutes later as Caleigh Christensen's corner kick found the head of Maddie Eddy to cut the lead in half. The Warriors, emboldened by the goal struck again in the final five minutes of the half as Maddie Eddy played a looping long ball over the head of the Maine defenders and Lily Cook finished the one on one chance to take the game level at two into the half.  
Maine would reset after the halftime break and score their third of the game just five minutes into the half. The teams would trade chances following the goal, however the Black Bears attempts to drain the clock ultimately proved successful as the hung on to the one goal lead to win the game.
 
Notes and Numbers: UP NEXT: The Warriors hit the road as they head to Smithfield, Rhode Island to face the Bryant University Bulldogs on Sunday, August 31st. Kick off for that game is at 1 PM.
