Providence, R.I. – Women's volleyball continued tournament play this weekend against the hosting Providence Friars. The Warriors fell in a three-set sweep to the Friars handing them their second loss of the weekend tournament.

How It Happened
In a big match against the Friars, the Warriors jumped out a nice start getting two kills from
Ella Gizmunt. The Friars shot right back going on a 7-0 run to pull away from the Warriors. Halfway through the set the Warriors went on a nice run highlighted two assists and a kill from
Lilly Konrad. That momentum was quickly shut down as Providence went on a 10-0 run to take the first set 25-8.
After a disappointing first set the Warriors looked to bounce back against the Friars. Beginning the set in a six-point deficit, the Warriors found themselves trying to claw back into the match. A kill and a service ace from
Mckenna Shotwell helped the narrow the game but it wasn't enough as the Friars continued their assault getting up by 10. Late attempts by the Warriors to erase the lead weren't enough as the Friars came out on top by a score of 25-13.
On the verge of another defeat, the Warriors fought in a neck and neck battle with the Friars. Merrimack took advantage of errors from Providence to help narrow the lead to four after going down. Kills from
Ella Gizmunt and
Morgan Thurlow weren't enough as the Friars completed the three set sweep.
