Cambridge, Mass – The Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation announced on Sunday afternoon that senior placekicker
Carlton Thai would be the week four FBS/FCS recipient of the Gold Helmet.
Thai, a native of Calgary, Alberta, and a graduate of Ernest Manning High School, drilled a 19-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to lift the Warriors to a 16-14 home win over Central Connecticut State. The game winner came after a blocked attempt just over three minutes earlier. Thai also hit from 28 and 38 yards in the game and converted. Merrimack's only PAT attempt, scoring 10 of the Warriors' points.
For the eleventh straight year, the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation is the presenting sponsor for both the weekly and end-of-year Gold Helmet Awards presented to student-athletes from FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III institutions throughout New England. The awards will be presented at the NEFW Captains and Awards Banquet on December 11, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.
