Field Hockey Beat By Fairfield Friday

North Andover, Mass. - The Merrimack College field hockey team was topped by Fairfield University on Friday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.

How It Happened
The Stags opened the scoring less than six minutes into the game before doubling their lead later in the first quarter. Fairfield added three more goals in the second period to build a 5-0 lead at halftime. Merrimack kept the visitors off the board in the third quarter behind several stops from goalkeeper Isabelle Gardiner, but Fairfield scored once more in the fourth to finish the game.

Notes and Numbers
Gardiner finished the game with nine saves.
Delaney Weiler had a shot on goal for Merrimack.
Kaitlyn Welsh also had a shot for the Warriors.
