Chestnut Hill, MA— The Merrimack Women's Hockey team scored three powerplay goals as they tied the Vermont Catamounts by a score of 3-3 at Conte Forum on Saturday afternoon. This game was played at Conte Forum due to a water main break impacting Lawler Arena.
Merrimack got on the board first, as Maddie Crowley-Cahill scored her first goal as a Warrior in her old rink just past the six minute mark.
After Vermont tied the score 1-1 three minutes later, McKenzie Cerrato scored against her former team on the powerplay to put the Warriors back ahead 2-1. On the third MC powerplay of the period, Emma Pfeffer scored her second goal of the weekend and her seventh powerplay goal of the season. This goal moved her back into a tie for most powerplay goals in the nation, while giving the Warriors a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Merrimack scored three powerplay goals in a game for the first time since January 8th, 2021, which also happened at Conte Forum.
Vermont would tie the score with two goals in the third period, and would take the shootout after the overtime.
Olivia Grabianowski had two assists and Maddie Crowley-Cahill added an assist to be the two Warriors with multi-point games. Lauren Lyons also impressed again with 39 saves.
