Men's Hockey Starts 2026 With Road Matchup With Brown on Saturday

North Andover, MA-- The Merrimack Men's Hockey team enters the new year on a three game winning streak as they beat the Vermont Catamounts by a score of 5-4 on Monday night, which is the third time this season that Merrimack has scored five goals or more in a game. The game against Brown is the first of two weekend's where Merrimack will play one non-conference game as their lone action of the weekend.

Ryan O'Connell, Parker Lalonde and Daniel Astapovich all had multi-point games in the win against Vermont as Astapovich had an assist to go along with his first career goal, Parker Lalonde assisted on both goals in the first period and Ryan O'Connell assisted Astapovich on his goal and it was vice-versa on O'Connell's tally.

Max Lundgren won his third straight start and his eight game of the season against Vermont with a 33 save performance, which is his fifth game in a row making 30 or more saves in a game, and his 11th in in 18 games played.

Trevor Hoskin kept his over a point per game pace as he picked up an assist on Mark Hillier's game winning goal against Vermont. Hoskin enters this game eighth in points among all Hockey East players and tied for 46th place in the NCAA as a whole.

Brown enters this game looking to shake a six game losing streak. Brown holds a 1-5 record against shared opponents with Merrimack with their only win coming against Yale on November 21st.

Merrimack and Brown are meeting each other for the fifth time in as many years as they have faced of once each season in that time with the Warriors winning three of five meetings. Each win has been split in that timeframe with the average margin of victory being by 4.5 goals per game. Ty Daneault has had success against the Bears, with two goals in the last two meetings. Caden Cranston also had an assist in the matchup.
