Coach Borek Reaches 100 Wins in Victory Over Northeastern

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The Merrimack College Men's Hockey team scored three times in the first period and rode that lead to a 4-1 win over the Northeastern Huskies on Thursday to begin their first of two home games at Lawler Arena. 

Merrimack opened the scoring in the first period with their first shot of the game as Caden Cranston scored his third goal of the season. The Warriors kept the 100% shooting percentage alive when Nathan King laced in a shot from the blue line for his third of the year. Merrimack would add one more in the late stages as Parker Lalonde put the puck in from in tight for his seventh of the season.

This is the fifth time this season that the Warriors have scored three goals or more in a period. Northeastern broke the duct with a goal late in the second.

Merrimack put the game away as Caelan Fitzpatrick forced the neutral zone turnover, and finished on the breakaway for his fifth of the season.

With the victory, Merrimack head coach Scott Borek notched his 100th win as head coach of the Warriors, the fifth head coach in school history to hit this milestone and the third in the Division-I era.

Mark Hillier also reached 100 games played in a Merrimack uniform this evening.  Cam Kungle also had his first multi-point game as a Warrior with two assists. Max Lundgren picked up his 11th win of the season with 23 saves in the victory.

The Warriors stay home to face the Northeastern Huskies again on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
