Men’s Basketball Atop The MAAC After Win Over Manhattan

NORTH ANDOVER, M.A. - The Merrimack College men's basketball team remains undefeated in the MAAC and at home after a 73-66 victory over Manhattan. Kevair Kennedy led the way with 20 points.

"The defense was really good when it needed to be," said Coach Joe Gallo. "Andres Marrero made a huge late clock three, Ernest Shelton made a big late three, Kevair Kennedy made some free throws. Just a great win over a really talented team."

"We've all got each other's backs, and we're just in it together," said Kevair Kennedy. "If I'm playing hard, I know my team is playing hard with me."

Kennedy was 8-13 from the field scoring 20 in his full 40 minute game. Along with leading the team in points, Kennedy had the most rebounds (8) and assists (7), making him come just short of his first career triple double. He has tallied over 20 points in three of his last four games and four of his last six.

Tye Dorset logged a full 40 on the day scoring 15 points. Dorset was 5-9 from the field and sank two 3-pointers.

Ernest Shelton added 16 points to the win and tallied a season high six rebounds. Shelton had three steals and made two 3-pointers with under two minutes left in the game to seal the victory.

KC Ugwuakazi powered his way to seven rebounds while shooting 3-3 from the field scoring six points. KC had two blocks on the day.

The Warriors head to Albany next Friday to take on the Siena Saints. Tip off from MVP Arena is at 7pm.
