NORTH ANDOVER, MASS-- Merrimack women's hockey opened the 2026-27 with a weekend split with Lindenwood, as they took a 3-0 win in game two. The Warriors also scored the final five goals of the weekend. Merrimack continues non-conference play this weekend against Union on Friday and Saturday with games at 4 and 2 PM. After this series, the Warriors will have an 11 day break before playing their first conference game against Boston College.
Freshman goaltender
Machala Musty has had an outstanding start to her Merrimack career, after coming into the game in relief in the season opening contest against Lindenwood stopping 19 shots, she followed it up with a 20 save shutout in her first career start the next day. Musty has played a total of 99:06 without allowing a goal and became the first Merrimack goaltender to notch a shutout in her first start since Calli Hogarth did so against Syracuse on Oct. 1st 2022.
Going back to last season,
Madison Vittands has six points in her last five regular season games, with two multi-point games as well as having a hat trick in the exhibition game played against Stonehill. Vittands enters the weekend as the team leader in assists, points, and plus/minus.
The series flips to Lawler this weekend as the two teams met in Schenectady last season, with the Warriors falling in game one, 4-2 before tying 2-2 but winning the shootout in game two.
