NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- Kevair Kennedy scored a career-high to propel the Merrimack College men's basketball past Siena in a 79-72 overtime thriller at Lawler Arena on Friday night.Â
With the victory, which came in front of a sold-out crowd on a nationally televised ESPNU broadcast, the Warriors claimed at least a share of the MAAC regular-season title. It marks the program's fourth regular-season title since elevating to Division 1 seven years ago.
The Warriors (15-2 in the MAAC, 10-0 at home) completed a regular-season sweep against the Saints.Â
Kennedy's career-high 32 points came on eight made shots and a perfect 16-for-16 day at the free throw line. Ernest Shelton scored 17 points (5-for-11 from 3-point range) and led the team in rebounds with a career-high seven.Â
Tye Dorset finished with 13 points on three 3-pointers and secured four rebounds. Todd Brogna (six points, five rebounds, four assists) hit a clutch 3-pointer in overtime to seal the game.Â
KC Ugwuakazi, who leads the conference in blocks, added on three in the victory. He had seven rebounds to go along with two steals.Â
The Warriors return home Sunday for their final home game of the regular season. Senior day action against the Iona Gaels is set for 1Â p.m.
