North Andover, MA— Trevor Hoskin scored twice and once in the shootout as the Merrimack Men's Hockey team tied with the Vermont Catamounts by a score of 4-4 and took the extra point in the shootout, winning 2-1 on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
After Vermont scored early in the first period, the Warriors fired back with two of their own as Hoskin and Caelan Fitzpatrick both scored to take the lead with Caden Cranston having an assist on each.
Nathan King scored a powerplay goal to extend the lead to 3-1 in the second, but the Catamounts would score twice in the period to send it to the third tied 3-3.
In the third, Hoskin found the net again for his tenth goal of the season and his second of the game with just under eight minutes to go in regulation. With Hoskin's goal, the Warriors reached five double digit goal scorers, the most since 2010-11. (Seven in a season)
Vermont would score the tying goal with 90 seconds to go, sending the game to overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, Hoskin and Parker Lalonde would score for the Warriors to take the extra point and five of six points on the weekend.
