NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Merrimack sharpshooter Lydia Melaschenko broke a program record and helped the women's basketball team earn a blowout win over Rider, 73-37, at Lawler Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Melaschenko, who scored a team-high 14 points in the win, set the program record for the most 3-pointers made in a single season (77). She did so with her fourth and final 3-pointer of the game, which came with 4:48 minutes left in the third quarter.
Merrimack's 37 points allowed marked the fewest allowed this season.
Daria Shishkina (12 points on 4-for-6 from the field) scored a career high in points while Madison Roman (11 points, 15 rebounds) finished with her 13th double-double of the season. Joi Williams came off the bench and hit a trio of 3-pointers in the effort.
The victory marked No. 10 in conference play for the Warriors, who qualified for the MAAC Championships with the win. Additionally, the team's 10 conference wins are the most since joining the MAAC.
The Warriors return to action Thursday when they travel to Marist University at 6 p.m.
