Towson, MD. – Merrimack Softball split their doubleheader set with the Cornell Big Red afternoon to close their play in the Towson Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
After going behind in the first, the Warriors tied the score in the second inning as
Megan Miller smacked a two run homer in the second inning, Merirmack would open the game up in the middle innings with runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings as
Madeline Arvai,
Alex Miller,
Abby Choquette and
Megan Miller all added RBI's to take 8-4 win.
On the mound,
Sam Ryan got the win with four innings and
MacKenzie Paulin pitched three innings in relief to earn the nine out save.
In game two, Merrimack overturned a three run deficit in the sixth inning, with
Abby Choquette scoring Jamie Caukins on a sacrifice fly,
Caity Lemay with an RBI single and
Megan Miller with third hit and fifth RBI of the day on RBI double, but Cornell would walk it off in the seventh on a home run.
Merrimack opens conference play next week on the road against The Mount with two games on Saturday at 12 and 2 PM and Sunday at 12.
