NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Colby Barker pitched seven innings of relief and allowed no runs in a 4-3 win over the Iona Gaels this Friday afternoon.
Barker entered the third inning and didn't leave the mound until the last out of the game. In seven innings he struck out four batters and allowed 0 runs on three hits. Barker improves to 4-0 on the season, tied for first in the nation in wins.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead scoring four runs in the first inning. Hot-hitter Greg Cristino singled through the left side and drove in two runs.
Shortly thereafter, Brooks Craigue hit an RBI single and then Jack Andrews hit a sac fly to bring the score up to 4-0.
Freshman Garrett McGovern found the bases twice, both from singles.
The Warriors and Gaels face off again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
