Arvai Homers Twice In Doubleheader Win Over Canisius

NORTH ANDOVER, MA. – Merrimack Softball picked up the doubleheader wins this afternoon against the Canisius Griffins on Saturday afternoon with an 8-7 walkoff win game one and 5-1 win in game two.

After going down 3-0 in the first, the Warriors fired back with purpose as Madeline Arvai hit a three run shot to tie the score before adding three more runs in the second.

Canisius would score four of their own to take a 7-6 lead in the seventh, but the Warriors would load the bases, scoring the tying and winning runs on walks to Sam Russalesi and Anna Mitrou.

In the circle, Anna Gedacht pitched all seven innings to earn her second win of the season, striking out five in the process.

In game two, Madeline Arvai would hit another three run home run to open the scoring in the third and Sam Russalesi would plate two more in the sixth.

In the circle, MacKenzie Paulin would pitch all seven and allow no earned runs and only would give up two hits in en route to her first win of her Merrimack career.

The Warriors look for the sweep tomorrow when the face Canisius at noon, weather permitting.
