North Andover, MA-- Former Merrimack goaltender
Max Lundgren was named as the winner the John Tomasello Unsung Hero award, as announced by the New England Hockey Writers Association.
Lundgren made 38 starts this season, winning 21 games, the second most in a single season for Merrimack goaltender, with a 2.55 goal against average and a .920 save percentage and totaled 1,172 saves which is also a new program record. Lundren signed an entry level deal with Boston Bruins earlier this month.
This is the third time a Merrimack player has claimed this award as Hampus Gustafsson won it in 2017 and
Ben Brar was named as the winner in 2023.
