NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Scott Borek isn't going anywhere.Â
Borek, who led the Merrimack College men's hockey program to its first-ever Hockey East championship in 2025-26, has agreed to a multi-year extension, athletic director Joe Foley announced.
"I'm just excited to be at Merrimack," Borek said when the news was shared during the Merrimack Roadshow. "Having this opportunity, it's not just for myself, it's obviously for our program and the guys that I work with and every player in that room. When the school shows confidence in me, they show confidence in them. I hope that spreads throughout the fall and into our season because it's going to be a very important thing to carry with us.Â
"I'm honored to be Merrimack's hockey coach, and I'm really honored to be able to continue to do that moving forward," Borek said.
Since taking over in 2018, Borek has become one of five coaches in program history to eclipse 100 career wins. He has led the Warriors to the NCAA Tournament twice in the last four seasons with the 2025-26 team earning a spot after it defeated No. 1 Providence, No. 2 UMass and No. 3 UConn in the Hockey East Tournament, becoming the first No. 8 seed to win the conference championship.

His vision, leadership and commitment to developing outstanding young men have positioned our program for continued success, and we're excited about what the future holds under his leadership."
Borek has compiled a 110-136-14 during his eight seasons at Merrimack, winning 19 or more games in three of the last five seasons. Borek's Warriors went 23-14-1 during the 2022-23 campaign and finished the regular season with the second-best record in the conference, advancing to the Hockey East Championship that season.
