Carbondale, IL — The Merrimack women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches during the Saluki Bash tournament on Friday evening.
In Merrimack's first match, the Warriors fell to Saint Louis 3-0 (25-18, 25-19 and 28-26). The Warriors returned to the court at the Banterra Center and went back and forth with host Southern Illinois, which ultimately defeated Merriack 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-17 and 25-23).
Against the Billikens of Saint Louis, Mckenna Shotwell shined as she led the offensive effort with 11 kills and added seven digs and a pair of aces. Jocelyn Hammerstrand had a notable showing with nine kills while Tami Afolalu contributed kills of her own.
In the night cap against the South Illinois Salukis, Shotwell continued to find the floor adding another 10 kills. Hammerstrand recorded 10 kills of her own while Afolalu finished the second match of the day with eight kills.
The Warriors wrap up their three-game showing in the Saluki Bash when they take the floor against Southeast Missouri State University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
