Dan Smith

Dan Smith is in his second year as part of the football coaching staff in 2017-18 and serves as assistant offensive line coach.

During his first season, Smith helped coach an offensive line that limited the opposition to only 24 sacks on the year while helping create opportunities for an offense that averaged over 165 rushing yards per game, its highest per-game rushing average since the 2011 season. One member of that unit earned all-conference recognition, as well.

A 2012 Union graduate, Smith was named to the D3Football East Region All-Star Second Team in his 2011 senior season, and also received unanimous Liberty League First Team honors. Smith was the veteran anchor of a line that opened holes for a variety of new and talented running backs in the 2011 season. His efforts also helped lead Union to the top passing offense in the Liberty League. Smith started at left tackle in 2011 and was a three-year starter.

Smith has also been a certified strength and conditioning coach during the offseason since his graduation from Union. He is a native of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, and is a 2008 graduate of Ridgefield Park Jr./Sr. High School.
