Matt Schell

    Wide Receivers Coach
Matt Schell is in his first season as Merrimack's Wide Receivers Coach. 

Prior to joining Merrimack, Schell was the Offensive Quality Control Coach at Pittsburgh. During the 2021 ACC championship campaign, the Panthers averaged a school-record 41.4 points and 486.6 yards per game. Pitt ranked third nationally in scoring and eighth in total offense. Individually, the Panther offense featured two of the nation's top skill players. Senior Heisman Finalist Quarterback Kenny Pickett and Biletnikoff Winning Wide Receiver Jordan Addison. 

Prior to his Pittsburgh arrival, Schell was a defensive graduate assistant at Arkansas State during the 2019-20 seasons. During his tenure, the Red Wolves captured the 2019 Camellia Bowl with a 34-26 victory over FIU.

Schell spent three years (2016-18) in diverse roles for the football program at Massachusetts, serving as a defensive graduate assistant, defensive analyst and director of football operations.

His additional experience includes time as a video assistant with the New England Patriots. Schell is a 2015 graduate of UMass with a dual degree in finance and sport management.
