Shane Ferguson

Shane Ferguson, a Merrimack College alumnus, is beginning his fourth season with the football coaching staff in 2018-19 and serves as the Wide Receivers Coach and Director of Operations.

In his third season guiding the wide receivers, Ferguson oversaw a unit that boasted two players in the top-10 in the Northeast-10 Conference in receiving yards per game and four that ranked in the top-25 of the conference. Three different players finished the year with 30 or more receptions, including one who finished with a team-high 57, a figure that ranked sixth in the league.

Ferguson made his return to his alma mater following a one-year stint at Lafayette College, where he served as the wide receivers coach and offensive assistant. Before his move to Lafayette, the 2014 graduate spent two years on the Merrimack coaching staff as the wide receivers coach as well as a special teams coach, mentoring the kickers and punters.

A native of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, Ferguson was a Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team selection, an NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-American, and he was the second player in program history to record 100+ catches in a season and was chosen to participate in the National Bowl at the conclusion of his senior season in 2013.

Ferguson earned his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine with a concentration in strength and conditioning in May 2013. Prior to coaching, Ferguson completed internships with Rutgers Football (2011) and Merrimack Hockey (2012).
