Tanner Sorenson

Tanner enters his second season with Merrimack Warriors men's hockey team in 2025-26.

For nearly a decade, Tanner has been coaching at the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (KOHA) in Kalamazoo, MI as a skills coach for all ages and this past season was the U16 head coach. Tanner played high school at Shattuck-St. Mary's where he was part of the U18 National Championship team. That following summer, he represented Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament in 2011, earning a silver medal. He played four years at Michigan State University (15’), where he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was Most Improved Player in his sophomore season.

From 2015-2024, Tanner enjoyed a professional career, playing over 450 games in the ECHL, AHL, and internationally in Kazakhstan, Switzerland, and England.
