Before Merrimack:

Spent three seasons in the BCHL with Coquitlam, with 73 games played, with 47 points scored… in 2021-22 he scored the most goals for a defenseman in the league with 11…and was named as a second team All-Star…Matthew was on the Quinnipiac Bobcats roster when they won the National Championship in 2023, playing one game…Transferred to Michigan Tech for the last two seasons, playing 74 games, recording 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points…
