Chris Willman

Chris Willman enters his third season with the men's lacrosse coaching staff in 2020-21, serving as the Graduate Assistant/Director of Men's Lacrosse Operations.

A former Division I lacrosse student-athlete at Hobart, Willman assisted on a defensive unit that, while talented, was still young in key areas. Willman would help the Warriors eventually finish in the top-20 nationally in scoring defense and also helped produce four NEILA All-Region First Team selections either at defense or transition midfield/face-off. He also helped the Warriors transition to Division I lacrosse during the 2020 season, as they claimed their first ever Division I victory in February against Michigan.

More importantly, Willman helped solidify the defense down the stretch, when Merrimack would go on a postseason run for the ages that saw the Warriors upset each of the top-four teams in the country as the No. 6 seed, posting three road wins to reach the title game and then doubling up Limestone, 16-8, to earn a second straight national championship.

A four-year student-athlete for the Division I Hobart men's lacrosse team, Willman served as captain during his senior season in 2018 when he was named the C.R.A.G. Outstanding Defense Player Award recipient. He led the team in caused turnovers that year and ranked second in ground balls; after graduating from Hobart he spent the summer playing Junior A box lacrosse for the Orangeville Northmen.

Willman helped Hobart claim its first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) title in 2016 to earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament. He previously attended The Hill Academy, where he played for Merrick Thomson, and served as team captain as a senior.
