Emily Taylor

Emily Taylor begins her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Merrimack College women's basketball team in 2023-2024.

Taylor has been amazing for the Merrimack program. She took over all recruiting duties once she arrived up until as late as this year. Taylor brought in a slew of freshmen recruits and impact transfers to help elevate the team. Taylor has also been responsible for overseeing the guards of this program and her development skills as the main guards coach has resulted in major accolades. Under Taylor the program saw all conference nods for guards Mayson Kimball, Kate Mager, twice, Jayme Decesare, and Kaylee Thomas.

Taylor has spent nine seasons with head coach Kelly Morrone. Two as a player at John Carroll, three as a coach at John Carroll, and now four years as an assistant coach at Merrimack. She has found nothing but success assisting in improving the team year after year. 

Taylor arrived at Merrimack from John Carroll University where she played and coached under current Merrimack head coach Kelly Morrone.  While coaching at John Carroll, Taylor helped coach the Blue Streaks to the first OAC Tournament Championship in school history.  In her three seasons with John Carroll she coached 2 OAC Players and Defensive Players of the Year.

After transferring to John Carroll from Walsh University, Taylor was a two-year starter for the Blue Streaks.  She helped lead John Carroll to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, including the programs first in 2014.  She ranks ninth all-time in Blue Streaks history in three-pointers made, as well as 13th in assists.

Before getting into coaching Taylor was an Ohio Police Officer and a Non-Profit County Juvenile Courts Case Manager.

Taylor graduated from John Carroll in 2015 with a degree in Sociology and Criminology, then again in 2020 with a master’s in Education; School Counseling .
