Glenn Rigney joined Merrimack women's basketball in 2026, bringing more than 25 years of Division I coaching experience and a proven track record of success in recruiting, player development, and defensive systems.

Rigney has helped build winning programs, develop all-conference student-athletes, and guide teams to conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.

Throughout his coaching career, Rigney has earned a reputation as one of the top defensive minds and recruiters in the game. During his 20-year tenure at Lehigh, he helped guide the Mountain Hawks to multiple Patriot League Championships, NCAA Tournament appearances, and consistent postseason success while developing numerous all-conference and award-winning student-athletes.

In addition to his extensive Division I women's basketball experience, Rigney brings years of high school and men's basketball coaching experience, providing a unique and well-rounded perspective on player development and program building.

At Merrimack, Rigney serves as the program's Director of Recruiting and Defensive Coordinator. His defensive systems have consistently ranked among the nation's best. He helped head coach Missy Traversi lead Army West Point to a Top 25 national ranking in scoring defense during the 2024-25 season. Rigney oversees the Warriors' defensive philosophy while assisting with player development, scouting, and game preparation. His experience, leadership, and championship pedigree provide invaluable guidance as Merrimack continues to build a championship-caliber program.
