Missy Traversi was named the head women's basketball coach at Merrimack College in April 2026 and enters her first season leading the Warriors in the Metro Conference.
A proven program-builder and accomplished leader, Traversi brings nearly two decades of coaching experience across Division I, Division II, Division III and high school basketball. Throughout her career, Traversi has built a reputation for developing student-athletes, establishing winning cultures, and transforming programs.
Prior to arriving at Merrimack, she spent four seasons as the head coach at Army West Point where she revitalized the Black Knights program and compiled a 65-44 (.546) overall record. Under her leadership, Army secured four consecutive Star Series victories over Navy, posting a dominant 7-1 record against its service academy rival. The Black Knights also advanced to four consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearances, reached the Patriot League semifinals and made a run to the Patriot League Championship Game during her final season. In her final season at Army, the Black Knights won 25 games including a first postseason win in the WNIT.
Throughout her tenure, Traversi coached numerous All-Patriot League performers, including a Patriot League Rookie of the Year, while building a program known for its toughness, rebounding, defensive intensity and competitive culture. Her leadership helped reestablish Army as one of the Patriot League's premier programs.
Before Army, Traversi spent five successful seasons as the head coach at Adelphi University where she compiled an 83-37 (.692) overall record, capturing conference championships, earning NCAA Division II Tournament berths and receiving All-Met Division II Coach of the Year honors following a historic 27-3 campaign in 2019-20. During her tenure, Adelphi won two Northeast-10 Southwest Division Championships, an NE10 Tournament Championship and was selected as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional.
Traversi also rebuilt the program at Wheelock College, leading the school to the first winning season in program history and consecutive record-setting campaigns.
In addition to her collegiate coaching success, Traversi founded MT Elite Basketball Training in 2006, growing the organization into one of New England's premier basketball development programs. Through camps, clinics, AAU teams, and individual skill development, she has helped thousands of athletes improve their game while building confidence, leadership, and a lifelong passion for basketball. At MT Warrior Clinics, Traversi brings the same passion, energy, and commitment to excellence that have defined her coaching career. Her mission is to create an environment where athletes are challenged to compete, inspired to grow, and empowered to become leaders both on and off the court.

Playing Experience
A standout player at the University of Maine, Traversi scored more than 1,100 career points while helping lead the Black Bears to three America East regular-season championships, an America East Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally in Sweden and earned an invitation to the Chicago Sky training camp.
