Taylor Blood begins her second season as an assistant coach for the field hockey program in 2018-19.
Blood helped guide the Warriors to an 11-7 campaign during her first season, assisting in all aspects of the program. Merrimack advanced to the postseason for the third straight, qualifying for the Northeast-10 Championship as the sixth seed. Under Blood's tutelage, the Warriors saw six players earn all-conference region - the most for the program since 2013 - including one player from each positional group.
Blood arrived at Merrimack after her playing career at Boston University. As a Terrier, Blood finished her playing career in 2016 as a National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Northeast Region Second Team honoree. She also added Patriot League All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team honors following a 15-point campaign on four goals and seven assists.
Upon her hiring, head coach Megan Shea stated, "I am very excited about Taylor being a part of my staff for the Merrimack field hockey program. Taylor not only was a fantastic player at Boston University but has risen to the top at a national level just this summer," Shea stated. "Taylor's knowledge of the game, her energy and ability to perform, as well as coach, is something that this program and our student-athletes will benefit from."
During the summer of 2017, Blood advanced in the selection process for the U.S Women's National Development Squad. The U-21 Junior and Development Squad National Camp included 67 of the top players nationwide, and Blood was one of just three New England natives to advance in the process.
A native of Hampton Falls, N.H., Blood graduated from Boston University in May of 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in health science.
