Alex Giannaros joined Merrimack Women's Basketball in April 2026 following one of the most decorated playing careers in Patriot League history. A standout student-athlete at Boston University, Giannaros established herself as one of the nation's premier three-point shooters while earning multiple all- conference honors throughout her career.

At Merrimack, Giannaros assists with player development, scouting, recruiting operations, practice planning, video breakdown, and day-to-day program operations. Drawing on her recent experience as an elite Division I player, she provides valuable insight and mentorship to the Warriors while helping support all aspects of the program.

As a graduate assistant, Giannaros brings a player's perspective, strong work ethic, and championship mindset to the Merrimack staff while beginning her coaching career at the Division I level.

Alex Giannaros enjoyed one of the most accomplished careers in Boston University history. A four-time All-Patriot League selection, she became just the fourth player in program history to earn all-conference honors in each of her four seasons. Giannaros finished her career with 1,369 points, ranking among Boston University's all-time leading scorers and three-point shooters. During the 2022-23 season, she led all of NCAA Division I Women's Basketball in three-point percentage (.500) and was named First Team All-Patriot League. A consistent offensive threat throughout her career, she totaled more than 250 career three-pointers while helping lead the Terriers to multiple postseason appearances. Known for her elite shooting ability, basketball IQ, and leadership, Giannaros established herself as one of the premier guards in the Patriot League and one of the top shooters in the country during her collegiate career.
