Previously, Bingel spent two seasons as Bentley University's pitching coach. In his two seasons with Bentley, the Falcons went 77-32. In his second season, as Bentley’s pitching coach produced historic results in 2026. The Falcons captured the program’s first Northeast-10 title and first NCAA Regional title, and advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series for the first time in program history.

The 2026 pitching staff rewrote the Bentley record book. Pat Heber and Sam Belliveau each won 10 games — the most ever in a single season by a Falcon. The pitching staff ranked #2 in NCAA DII in strikeouts (529) and #4 in K/BB ratio. Individually, Sophomore Zach Eigenbrod set the single-season strikeout record with 106 (4th in NCAA DII) and tied the program mark for strikeouts in a game with 15. While Pat Heber received All-American honors finishing his career as Bentley’s all-time leader in wins (23) and strikeout leader (285).

As a player, Bingel was a two-way standout at Bryant University from 2014 to 2016, appearing in 34 games on the mound, including 20 starts, going 15-8 with a 3.84 ERA. He played in 157 games overall and started at seven different positions, posting a career slash line of .287/.365/.449 with 139 hits, 21 doubles, five triples, 16 home runs and 89 RBI across three collegiate seasons. He earned Division I All-New England First Team honors twice and was a two-time All-NEC First Team selection.

Bingel was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016 and was named a Minor League Baseball All-Star after opening his professional career with 19 consecutive scoreless innings. He continued as a two-way player in his final professional season, hitting .308/.419/.404 in 95 games as a utility player. He was inducted into the St. John’s Prep Hall of Fame in 2024.
