Brie Wajer joined Merrimack women's basketball in April 2026, bringing experience in basketball operations, player development, recruiting, and defensive systems at the Division I level.
Known for her leadership, organization, and ability to build meaningful relationships, Wajer has quickly established herself as one of the rising young coaches in the profession.

Prior to joining Merrimack, Wajer served as an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Eastern Kentucky University where she oversaw the team's defensive system, player development, scouting, recruiting support, and game preparation. Before returning to EKU, she worked alongside head coach Missy Traversi at Army West Point, helping guide the Black Knights to one of the nation's top defensive units while contributing to scouting, player development, and recruiting efforts.
Wajer's coaching foundation was built through basketball operations roles at Eastern Kentucky and Villanova. As Director of Women's Basketball Operations at EKU, she managed team travel, budgets, equipment, academic coordination, recruiting visits, and daily program logistics. At Villanova, she gained experience within a nationally recognized Big East program, contributing to practice operations, player development, recruiting visits, social media, and team operations while helping the Wildcats earn an NCAA Tournament appearance.
At Merrimack, Wajer serves as Recruiting Coordinator and works closely with player development, scouting, defensive strategy, and game preparation. Her diverse experience across operations, defense, and player development provides a well-rounded perspective that strengthens the Warrior program.

Playing Experience – 2018-2021
Wajer was a Division I student-athlete at Villanova University. She was recognized with the program's Leadership Award in 2021. Throughout her career, she helped Villanova earn multiple postseason appearances, including two WNIT berths, while earning Big East Academic All-Star honors in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Her experience competing in the Big East helped shape her passion for leadership, player development, and building championship-level cultures.
