Michael Sciamanna was named the new Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Merrimack College Warriors, bringing nearly two decades of collegiate coaching experience and a distinguished track record of building elite programs. With a reputation for transforming teams and developing top-tier talent, Sciamanna steps into his role ready to lead the Warriors as they enter the MAAC conference and aim for continued success.

Sciamanna joins Merrimack after an exceptional nine-year tenure as the Head Coach at Saint Anselm College (2015–2024), where he elevated the Hawks to national prominence. Taking over a program that had finished 2-11 the year prior, Sciamanna built a powerhouse, leading the team to an 82-41 overall record and becoming the winningest coach in the program’s history. His teams earned four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths (2021–2024), including a historic run to the 2024 NCAA Division II Semifinals. Sciamanna guided the Hawks to a 50-17 record over the last five seasons, with multiple national rankings, including a peak ranking of No. 5 in Division II.

Throughout his time at Saint Anselm, Sciamanna consistently developed elite talent, coaching 23 USILA All-Americans, eight Scholar All-Americans, National Goalie of the Year, National Midfielder of the Year and numerous NE10 award recipients, including Players of the Year, Defensive Players of the Year, Midfielders of the Year and Goalie of the Year. He was recognized as the 2021 NE10 Coach of the Year and New England Coach of the Year and served in key leadership roles within the lacrosse community, including as NE10 Coaches Chair and member of various NCAA and USILA committees.

Prior to his success at Saint Anselm, Sciamanna served as Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Endicott College (2008–2015), where he was instrumental in the program’s success as Offensive Coordinator. Under his guidance, the team consistently ranked nationally, captured three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) titles, and earned four NCAA Tournament appearances. His offensive schemes set numerous program records, and his teams regularly ranked among the nation’s best in scoring and extra-man offense.

In addition to his collegiate coaching career, Sciamanna is the founder and director of Elite 100 Lacrosse, a premier recruiting showcase that has connected hundreds of student-athletes with NCAA programs. He has also directed and coached select teams, emphasizing player development and fostering a pipeline of talent to collegiate lacrosse programs.

As a player, Sciamanna competed at the Division I level for Wagner College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was a member of UMass’s historic 2006 team that advanced to the NCAA National Championship game, marking the program’s first Final Four appearance.

Sciamanna holds a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Endicott College and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from UMass Amherst.
