Junior Julia Dempsey set a new Merrimack track and field record while competing in the elite New England Championships on Saturday. 

Dempsey competed in the 5k, setting the new program mark at 18:12.89, earning 13th place and the highest finish among NEC competitors. 

The Warriors return to action next weekend, traveling to Hanover, New Hampshire to compete at Dartmouth College on Feb. 8.
