Freshman Calene Lazare (Newton, Mass.) of the Merrimack College women's track & field team has been named this week's Fuddruckers Female Athlete of the Week.

Lazare, who was named NE10 Rookie of the Week, made her collegiate debut this past weekend at the UMass Boston Indoor Opener, posting her first-career victory during the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.78 seconds. She also placed second in 200-meter sprint, with a time of 25.94 seconds.

Lazare and the rest of the Merrimack College women’s track & field team will compete on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Rhode Island College Invitational in Providence, Rhode Island.
