The Merrimack College men’s soccer team advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game for the second straight year; with the team’s defense playing a major role throughout the tournament, it was still able to outscore its opponents 4-1 leading up to the final game. Junior captain Aasmund Joedahl tallied a goal and an assist in the opening two games of the NE10 Championship, earning him the distinction of Fuddrucker’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Joedahl and the Warriors clinched a first-round home game with a shutout victory over Assumption during Homecoming. With an extremely close race for fourth place, the team Merrimack welcomed back was the last team it played. With a birth in the semifinal round on the line, Joedahl netted the insurance goal in the last ten minutes of the first half, finalizing the score at 2-0. The junior added on the game-winning assist in the NE10 semifinal, when the Warriors’ come-from-behind win sent them to the NE10 Championship game for the second straight season.
