GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The No. 14 Merrimack College men's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to 10 games on Saturday, when the Warriors and No. 2 Adelphi meet in a battle of two nationally-ranked powers at Motamed Field for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors defeated Saint Anselm on Tuesday night, 1-0, to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games.
- Freshman Filippo Begliardi Ghidini (Ravenna, Italy) scored his third goal in two games and seventh overall, on a cross from senior Michael Dushman (Bedford, Mass.) with 50 seconds left in the first half.
- Senior keeper Lucas Rezende (Weymouth, Mass.) earned his eighth shutout of the season, which leads the league and puts him in a four-way tie for second among Division II keepers.
Inside the Series/Last Season vs. Adelphi
- Last season, the Warriors lost to Adelphi, 2-1, in overtime from North Andover. Senior Mattia Lanzi (Viterbo, Italy) had an assist in the contest.
- Adelphi has a 1-3-1 record against Merrimack in the short history between the two programs. The Warriors' lone win came in Garden City in the first meeting between the schools during a 2-1 victory on Sept. 14, 2013.
The Panthers:
- The Panthers played to a scoreless tie on Wednesday night against Southern Connecticut State, and are now 9-0-2 overall and 7-0-1 in conference play.
- They have outscored their opponents 33-9 this season, while the defense has limited the opposition to 71 shots all year.
- Andre De Giorgi leads the team with 23 points (11g, 1a). Raymond Leto has started six games in net, posting a 3-0-2 record, with two shutouts and a 0.80 goals-against average.
