NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team will welcome Penn State to Lawler rink for a pair of non-conference games this weekend. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m., with Saturday's game beginning at 4 p.m. It is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors went 0-1-1 this past weekend against No. 4/4 St. Lawrence. On Friday night, Merrimack lost 2-1 to the Saints. Junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) scored the lone goal early in the third period to cut the lead in half. Sophomore goalie Léa-Kristine Demers (Repentigny, Quebec) had 23 saves in the game.
- On Saturday, Merrimack and the Saints skated to 0-0 tie in front of over 500 fans for Homecoming Weekend. Junior net-minder Samantha Ridgewell (Outlook, Saskatchewan) made a season-high 42 saves, which led to her being named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.
- Merrimack's penalty kill is 18th in the nation at 82.1% (23-of-28).
The Nittany Lions:
- Penn State enters the weekend with a 1-4-1 record, losing the last two games. The lone win came against Union (N.Y.) during a 3-1 win at home.
- Katie Rankin leads the team with two points on one goal and an assist. Three other Nittany Lion skaters have picked up a goal.
- Daniela Paniccia has logged 202:19 minutes, with a 0-2-1 record and a 1.48 goals-against average. Hannah Ehresmann has a 1.90 goals against average in three starts.

The Warriors wrap-up their seven-game home-stand when they host Vermont next weekend for two games in Hockey East action. The first game is set for Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Saturday's puck drop is set for 2 p.m.
