WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program made a return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night, dropping a three-set match to the University of New Haven from Chargers Gymnasium.

Set Breakdown
- Set 1: Merrimack hung with the regional powerhouse, facing an 11-6 deficit through 17 points, but a set-closing 14-4 spurt for the Chargers enabled the hosts to take a 1-0 lead in the match
- Set 2: Kills from freshman Karina Anderson (Newbury Park, Calif.) and senior Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) kept Merrimack with striking distance in the second set. With the score at 21-13 following another point from Nye, the Chargers ended the set on a 4-0 run to double their lead
- Set 3: Junior Sofia Basauri (Beaverton, Ore.) registered a pair of kills in the early parts of the game, while a pair of New Haven errors brought the Warriors within three at 10-7. With the score at 16-11, the Chargers used four unanswered points to build a nine-point lead. Sophomore Sydney Buran (Cohoes, N.Y.) posted a kill, while more miscues from New Haven allowed Merrimack to climb within five, 23-18, but the Chargers recovered to take the final two points and won the match

Notes and Notables
- Tuesday marked the fourth match this season that Basauri finished with at least eight kills, which led the Warriors. Her .227 hitting percentage marked the highest of those four matches
- Cain has now recorded at least 10 digs in her last four matches
