Set Breakdown
- Set 1: A see-saw opening 21 points saw Merrimack take an 11-10 advantage after consecutive kills for junior Katelynn Marr (Franklin, Mass.). The set turned in favor of the Penmen from there, with the visitors using an 8-1 run to create an 18-12 advantage. After the Warriors made it a six-point game, 22-16, the Penmen rattled off three straight points to win the opener
- Set 2: Merrimack jumped up to another early lead, 10-7, after a 3-0 spurt highlighted by a kill for sophomore Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and a block for senior Mary Kate McCarroll (Harrison, Ohio). Junior Sofia Basauri (Beaverton, Ore.) delivered an ace to put the Warriors in front, 16-14, only to see the Penmen win six unanswered to turn the game around. With its deficit at five, Merrimack climbed within one, 23-22, following a 4-0 spurt starting and finished with Flaherty kills. SNHU recovered, however, winning the final two points to prevent a Navy and Gold comeback
- Set 3: Tied at eight following two more points from Flaherty, SNHU took the lead for good by winning three unanswered. Later in the frame, two Penmen errors brought the Merrimack deficit down to two (20-18), prompting a timeout from the visitors. Out of the stoppage, SNHU won three in a row and five of seven to clinch the match, 25-20
