NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College Athletic Department is proud to announce that the Merrimack Athletics Hall of Fame will re-launch this fall, honoring many of Merrimack's accomplished former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors.

This event will mark the induction of the first Hall of Fame class since 2004, as well as the establishment of a Merrimack Athletics Hall of Fame Gallery, which will honor past recipients. All current members of the Hall of Fame, as well as their families, will be invited back to campus for a special ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 12. Programming details for the event will be formalized later this summer, during which the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will officially be announced.

"This is one of our many initiatives to perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and pride to Merrimack College," Merrimack College President Dr. Christopher E. Hopey said.

"The return of the Athletic Department's Hall of Fame will give us the opportunity to celebrate former student-athletes, coaches and teams who were part of so many great accomplishments," Director of Athletics Jeremy Gibson said. "We also are thrilled to enshrine new members who, over the years, have helped build our rich history of athletics at Merrimack College."

The Merrimack College Athletics Hall of Fame was established to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves and the College through their involvement and/or support in the Athletic Department at Merrimack College.

A Hall of Fame Committee that will facilitate input from across campus, as well as the alumni community, has been established. A candidate pool will be formed within the committee and public nominations will also be accepted. Nominations may be submitted online at the following link.

The Hall of Fame Committee will work jointly with the Athletic Department and Office of Development and Alumni Relations for the re-launch event, scheduled for Oct. 12, 2017. The ceremony will be held prior to the start of Homecoming Weekend, which is scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 13-15, on campus.
