NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Looking for its first victory of 2017, the ninth-ranked Merrimack College field hockey program travels to Bentley University on Wednesday night for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. from the Bentley University Turf Field

Last Time Out:
  • The Warriors opened the 2017 season on the road last weekend against No. 2 East Stroudsburg
  • East Stroudsburg struck first after over 50 minutes went by with neither team scoring, but Taylor Simpson (York, Maine) pounced on a loose ball after penalty corner to score the equalizer for Merrimack in the 55th minute
  • Just over 10 minutes later, Stroudsburg answered to take a 2-1 lead. The Navy and Gold attempted three corners over the final two minutes, including one with no time remaining on the clock, but shots from Simpson and senior Mikayla Panneton (Andover, Mass.) were all stopped by the ESU defense
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Katharina Ohmen (Bremen, Germany) made eight saves for the Warriors, playing all 70 minutes coming off an all-rookie campaign as a freshman in 2016
'Mack Facts:
  • Simpson's goal on Saturday increased her career total to 35, giving her sole possession of fourth place on the Warriors' all-time list. The fourth-year forward increased her career-point total to 85, moving into a tie for fourth in Merrimack lore
  • Ohmen's 2.00 goals-against average and .800 save percentage are currently the fifth-best totals in the Northeast-10 Conference
  • Simpson and Panneton combined for seven of Merrimack's eight attempted shots on Saturday, with junior Mary McNeil (Canton, Mass.) striking the eighth
Inside the Series:
  • Wednesday's game will be the 27th installment of the Merrimack-Bentley series
  • The Falcons currently hold a 14-12 edge in the all-time matchup, but the Warriors own a 12-3 mark against Bentley over the last 15 meetings
  • Last season, Merrimack split its two games against the Falcons, winning the conference matchup. McNeil, Simpson and junior Samantha Bartush (Norwalk, Conn.) all scored goals against Bentley in 2016
