NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team will conclude its season series against New Hampshire on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from Lawler Rink in Hockey East action.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors picked up an important Hockey East victory with Connecticut on Friday night, defeating the Huskies, 2-1, from Lawler Rink. The win put Merrimack into the eighth spot in the Hockey East standings.
- Junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) scored both of the goals for Merrimack to extend her point streak to five games. Sophomore Mikyla Grant-Mentis (Brampton, Ontario) added an assist, as she rides a six-game point streak. Junior netminder Samantha Ridgewell (Outlook, Saskatchewan) made 32 saves in the contest, including 16 in the third period.
Earlier This Season vs. UNH
- The Warriors opened the season series against the Wildcats with a 1-1 tie in Durham, New Hampshire on Oct. 6. New Hampshire then took the second game at Lawler the next day by a score of 3-1.
- In the first game, Rae tied the game on a short-handed tally midway through the second period. Sophomore Léa-Kristine Demers (Repentigny, Quebec) had 30 saves in the game. In the second game, junior Madison Morey (Fairbanks, Alaska) picked up a goal, while Ridgewell stopped 26 shots.
The Warriors:
- Rae leads the team with 14 points (10g, 4a), while Grant-Mentis has 12 points on eight goals and four assists, good for second. Junior Felila Manu (Anchorage, Alaska) leads the team with seven assists. Junior captain Paige Voight (St. Michael, Minn.) is third on the team in scoring with nine points (3g, 6a).
- Ridgewell is eighth nationally with a .933 save percentage, which is second among Hockey East goaltenders.
- In conference play, Merrimack sits sixth in scoring defense, allowing just under three goals per game.
The Wildcats
- New Hampshire enters Wednesday night with a 9-8-5 overall record and 6-5-3 in Hockey East play. Previously, the Wildcats were swept in a weekend series against No. 2/2 Boston College.
- Meghara McManus leads the team with 16 points and nine goals. She has also dished out seven assists. Nicole Dunbar sits second on the team with 14 points (7g, 7a). Ava Boutilier has started 19 games for the Wildcats in net, posting a .920 save percentage, while going 7-7-5.
- New Hampshire has the fifth best power play in Hockey East with a 16.9 % conversion rate. The Wildcats also are sixth in scoring offense in league play at 2.62 goals per game.
