Easton, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's soccer program was tripped up on the road Wednesday, dropping a Northeast 10 Conference game to Stonehill, 3-0.

How It Happened

• Stonehill pressured early, forcing a plethora of offensive attacks in the first ten minutes. The first Skyhawk opportunity came when a header into the box was pushed away by sophomore Megan Langlois; the rebound was shot back in by Nicole Garfield, but senior Gigi Guenther was able to get a body in front of the point-blank shot and keep Stonehill off the board.
• Merrimack was able to counter the attack in the 12^th minute; Guenther was able to chase down a ball into the 18-yard box, and the cross onto the far side was played in by senior Amber Gustafson, but the shot was just high.
• Nicole Geraghty got the Skyhawks on the board first; after getting around a pair of defenders, a hard low shot to the left side of the net beat Langlois for the game-opening goal.
• After a pass inside the box was deflected, Camryn Thompson was able to beat Langlois who was coming off her line to double the lead in the 28^th minute.
• Merrimack almost cut the lead back in half just minutes after the second goal. A corner from senior Tori Daigle was headed inside the box to Guenther; the shot was just wide, inching the left post.
• Merrimack had another great chance in the 35^th minute. A shot from Kailee Stobbe just outside the 18 was curling toward the post, but just couldn't get enough bend on the shot.
• Garfield got the Skyhawks on the board at the start of the second half; a cross inside the box allowed for an open opportunity, and a clean shot beat junior keeper Erin Fulton, who was subbed in to start the second.
• Sophomore Nicole Langlois nearly broke the plain with 10 minutes left in the second half. A shot from outside the 18 sailed just over the crossbar, forcing Skyhawk keeper Kaitlin Brown off her line.

• Wednesday's contest is just the second time the Warriors have been blanked this season, despite having the shot tally in the double-digits.
• Similar to last season, the Warriors started 2017 at 2-7 against Northeast 10 Conference competitors; they went on to make the playoffs, and advance through the NE10 quarterfinal round.
