ALBANY, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program opened its two-match weekend in New York on Friday evening with a three-set defeat to the College of Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference contest played at Nolan Gymnasium in Albany, N.Y.

Set Breakdown
- The Golden Knights jumped out to a commanding advantage, starting the first set on an 11-1 stretch. Behind kills for junior Catherine Flaherty and senior Sofia Basauri, the Warriors cut their deficit to seven, 17-10, but the Golden Knights responded with five consecutive points. Saint Rose held on for a 25-13 victory
- The second set saw the Warriors at their best. Flaherty notched three kills as part of a 10-8 start for the visitors. With Saint Rose ahead, 12-10, Merrimack scored three straight points capped off by an ace for Flaherty. Later in the set, freshman Brooke Leestma recorded a kill to put the Warriors within two points of evening the match, but the Golden Knights ended the frame on a 4-0 run to claim a 25-23 win
- Saint Rose turned an 8-5 advantage into a 13-6 lead to claim momentum in the final set. With the score at 19-12, the hosts won six of the final nine points to end the match with a 25-15 triumph
Top Performers
- Senior Katelynn Marr led the way with eight kills and a .278 hitting percentage
- Junior Sydney Buran and freshman Megan Rumenapp split setting duties once again. The later totaled 14 to lead the squad, her third straight game with at least 10
- Senior Amanda Cain led all players with 13 digs, totaling seven more than any other Warrior
Notes and Notables
- Despite the final score, Merrimack totaled 31 kills which was just one short of the Golden Knights' output (32)
- The Warriors owned a 38-32 edge in digs
- Merrimack hit .267 as a team in the second set, the Warriors' highest percentage of the evening and second highest between the two squads
